Clinical Evaluation
We review your symptoms, medical history, and current medications, considering prostate health alongside hormone, metabolic, and cardiovascular factors. Testing is ordered when clinically indicated.
An enlarged prostate should not dictate your daily schedule or your sleep. If you find yourself mapping out bathroom breaks or waking several times a night, those symptoms are worth evaluating properly.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common, non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate that becomes more frequent with age. As the prostate grows, it can restrict urine flow and make the bladder work harder. At Center for Men's Health Rhode Island, we provide structured diagnostic evaluation and individualized management planning for lower urinary tract symptoms.
These symptoms are not specific to BPH. They can also arise from bladder, urethral, neurologic, medication-related, or other conditions, which is why clinical evaluation matters before assuming a cause.
Evaluation may include symptom scoring with the IPSS, a focused history and physical examination, and laboratory or post-void residual testing when clinically indicated.
Structured evaluation and individualized management planning, with an emphasis on shared decision making.

Management may include lifestyle and behavioral measures or prescription medication when appropriate. If a procedural or surgical option is indicated, we coordinate referral to a urologist.
We reassess your symptoms over time, monitor for medication side effects including effects on sexual function, and adjust the plan or refer onward as your needs change.
